Martial Arts
I studied martial arts under my father, Scott Jensen, since I was a child. I focused on traditional Northern Shaolin in which I have earned the black sash rank, but have also studied Xingyiquan, Baguaxong, and Taichi. Grandmaster Wong Jack Man is the primary source of our lineage of Northern Shaolin. For more information on this martial arts lineage, check Scott’s page here.
This involved techniques training including with resisting partners, regular sparring, forms training (with techniques application), and worked with grappling/rolling/groundwork both on and off mats.
I have experience teaching both kids and adults in Northern Shaolin.
I currently am working on combining Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) knowledge with traditional Chinese martial arts. Though I have done the latter for many years, I am a beginner in HEMA. The ultimate goal is to incorporate HEMA style weapons sparring/fencing with traditional Chinese martial weapons. They fit quite naturally together, and compliment well, though it is an interesting journey to see the places where one is varied from the other.
Miniatures Painting
I have a long history of spending entirely too much time and money making toy soldiers. I have spent many years being the resident painter for Gamescape-North in San Rafael CA. Many of the demo armies on display are painted by me, as is much of the terrain used for events & game nights.
I have experience working as a commission painter as well, though am not currently offering commissions.
Traditional Art
I have a background in traditional realism, primarily graphite but including work with oil as well. This is not something I am currently pursuing, but was an important part of my life for many years.
